- GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE -
Grand Knight's Report - August, 2010

Two months into the fraternal year and already I have encountered many challenges – but, the “Rewards” I have received outnumber the challenges.

We have been busy this month with the following taking place;
  • Our Council recited a rosary for our Dearly Departed Sister, Shelley, the wife of our Brother Knight, Tom Krush
  • First Friday Eucharistic Adoration – The Knights sponsored a “Holy Hour” of prayer and rosary – (we hope to continue this each month)
  • Brother Carmel Camillery’s Memorial mass – we supported the family by showing our presence
  • Mass for the “Faithful Departed” Knights of our council was held, we processed in as a group, the names of the faithful departed were read, a bell was rung after each name was read
  • We hosted two “Socials” this month – Hamburger/Hotdog and Pancake Breakfast
  • Feed the Hungry Food Drive for July was hosted by The K of C - Ladies Auxiliary
  • A Back-to-School – Back Pack Drive was sponsored by the Squires Circle

Wow! That is a great deal of “volunteer” hours and lots of energy! Many “Thanks and Blessings” to all who participated and made it happen. Continue the good work!

With July behind us, it is time to start preparing for our busiest months. In addition to our usual monthly activities, our biggest challenges are forthcoming. The St. Francis of Assisi Feast, Tootsie Roll Drive and the Christmas Dinner/Dance are just around the corner. These three events will require many resources; we need everyone’s help – big or small – in order to be successful in these events.

“Brothers We Need Your Help”
Charity does not always come in the form of money; it can also be expressed by volunteering your time. Look at this as an opportunity to help our parish and community and in doing so,we will be blessed with love and fellowship.

I am pleased to announce that our Brother Knight, Fernando Ruvalcaba has been accepted into the seminary, in preparation for Priesthood. He will be studying theology at the Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. Fernando will be departing to Oregon on August 22, 2010.

Fernando has been an usher at St. Francis of Assisi
11:30 AM mass, since the days at Twitchell Elementary School. He chaired the position of Program Director, for our council, and served as faithful Inner Sentinel for the Rev. Theodore Van Skee Assembly #2164. Fernando was knighted in April, 2007.

Next Officers Meeting
August 17, 2010 (3rd Tuesday of the month) at 6:30PM in the “Our Lady of Angel’s room”, St. Francis of Assisi, San Damino parish center.
Next Business Meeting
September 7, 2010 (1st Tuesday of the month) at 6:30PM in the “Our Lady of Angel’s room”, St. Francis of Assisi, San Damino parish center. All Brothers are invited to join us for a social at 5:45PM prior to our business meeting.

Vivat Jesus!
Herman Sisneros, GK
